Fichtelberg Sa. — Travel Essay
Fichtelberg brings together contrasts.
On one hand, it is a winter sports center with cable cars, lifts, and clearly structured slopes. On the other, it preserves a quiet vastness that feels almost surreal during inversion conditions.
Below the summit, the fog settles like a closed sea. Above it, skiers glide across snow-covered hills. Technology meets nature — not dominant, but integrated.
The legendary cross-country trails run through snow-covered forests and open into wide horizons. The view extends toward the Czech Republic; the border becomes merely geographic.
Fichtelberg is not an extreme mountain.
It is a winter center in the Ore Mountains — balanced between movement and stillness.
